Sports Photo Gallery: For Marian, It's Childers' Play

Marian Catholic junior Julian Childers rolled to the singles title at the Homewood-Flossmoor boys tennis sectional. The Spartans also picked up a first-place finish from their doubles team of Mitch Zavesky and Kyle Scheffers.

The No. 1 seeds lived up to their advance billing.

Marian Catholic's Julian Childers defeated Homewood-Flossmoor's Brad Holt 6-4, 6-1 to win the singles title in the Homewood-Flossmoor boys tennis sectional. Childers entered as the top seed and swept four straight matches in straight sets.

In doubles, Marian Catholic's top-seeded Mitch Zavesky and Kyle Scheffers defeated Homewood-Flossmoor's Jake Schumann and Kodie Hayes 6-2, 6-2 to take the title. Zavesky and Scheffers won all four of their matches in straight sets and helped the Spartans emerge the winner in a tight team race.

Marian Catholic won the sectional with 26 points. H-F placed second with 24, followed by Andrew 23 and Oak Forest 11.
