The Spartans downed Thornton Fractional South 6-4 in an IHSBCA summer league regional playoff game.
The heat was a problem for the Thornton Fractional South baseball team, and forget about temperature readings that climbed into the upper-90s on Tuesday.
Marian Catholic pitcher Robby Nunn was bringing the heat from the mound. And the Spartans kept their bats warm, too, as they notched a 6-4 victory over the Rebels in IHSBCA summer league regional action.
Marian assistant coach, George Shimko was pleased with Nunn's performance.

"Robby (Nunn) has been a leader on the field," Shimko said. "The pitcher sets the tone and that's exactly what he did. It's the little things on the plays that make a difference.
"Some of the plays were given to us. We could have done better in hitting. This was a team effort. It shows what we as Marian ballplayers can accomplish. It's a great opportunity for our baseball program at Marian."
