Rich Central turned to its ace Garrett Spivey. And he spun a web the capped the Olympians' drive to the Southland Athletic Conference basetball title.
Spivey pitched Rich Central to a 6-3 victory over rival Rich East in a recent matchup. The win capped a 13-2 run for the Olympians in conference play and enabled them to win their first conference baseball title since 1989.
The two teams were deadlocked 3-3 through five innings. In the bottom of the sixth, Rich Central took the lead for good. Spivey and Brandon Fowler drove in runs. In the top of the seventh, Matt Cole's catch up a pop foul on the third base line put an end to the game moments later.
