Suspected Electrical Fire Breaks Out at Laundry
Chicago Heights firefighters extinguished a small blaze Saturday night that broke out in the rear of Spanky's Laundromat in Wilson Center Mall on Lincoln Highway.
The Chicago Heights Fire Department put out a small, suspected electrical fire Saturday night that broke out in the back of Spanky's Laundromat in Wilson Center Mall.
No one was injured, and the fire was confined to the rear of the laundry, said a fire official on the scene, adding that surrounding stores in the strip mall were not affected by the blaze.
Emergency crews responded just after 8 p.m. to an emergency call that smoke was coming out of the vents at Spanky's, 402 Lincoln Hwy., the fire official said. Firefighters had to wait for a ComEd crew to cut the power to the laundry as a safety precaution before extinguishing the minor blaze, the official added.
