Teen Girl Beaten to Death in Chicago Heights: Autopsy

The death of 17-year-old Melanie Valencia of Chicago Heights has been ruled a homicide.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL - A 17-year-old girl from Chicago Heights was beaten to death last week and left near the fence of a home on Schilling Avenue, according to multiple media reports.

The victim, who was found unresponsive Wednesday night outside the home in the 1400 block of Schilling, has been identified as Melanie Valencia, according to an ABC-7 report.

An autopsy found that she was beaten to death, having suffered from multiple injuries in an assault, according to a CBS-Chicago report. The death has been ruled a homicide.

Police were called to the area around 9:30 p.m. to a call of a screaming woman. They found her unresponsive and attempted to resuscitate her, but the attempt failed. She was pronounced dead about 30 minutes later.
