Tee's Barber Shop, One Heights Resident's Dream Come True: Business Spotlight

Park District Commissioner Jimmy "Tee" Burnett's passion is helping youth as well as giving them hair designs.

Having his barber shop a stones throw from has not been a coincidence for lifelong Chicago Heights resident Jimmy "Tee" Burnett.

Cutting hair since the age of 13, Burnett's passion for being well-groomed and making others well groomed became a business.

"I started cutting hair as a teen, then went professional in 1997," Burnett recalls. "I started grooming myself first and began cutting people's hair in  the neighborhood for three dollars. When I got better, the price increased."
