Think Thrifty at Lyn's Breads: Business Spotlight

This week's business profile features an interview with thrift store owner, Lynette Humphrey in Chicago Heights.

One of a few thrift stores in the South Suburbs, Lyn's Breads can be found on Halsted Street in Chicago Heights.

Lynette Humphrey's business features new and used brand name clothing, hats and purses at great discounts.

Humphrey: I've been in business since 1994.

What made you want to start a local business?

I want to have something when I retire, to fall back on.

What are your specialties?

I have mylar balloons cheaper than a party store. I can make a balloon bouquets for any occasion, even weddings. I also make gift baskets customized to fit the receiver. I have a lot of nice new and used clothes at a discount.

Don't let the area fool you, we are nice friendly people.

Any specials?

Everything in the store is on sale, nothing is full price.

Any recommendations to those wanting to start their own business?  

You have to have time and paitence.

Where are your favorite local places to eat and shop?  

Bogart's in Homewood and JCPenney's.

Lyn's Breads is located at 1517 S. Halsted in Chicago Heights. Hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m, some weekends. Phone is 708-328-5316.
