The trucking industry is bursting with jobs, and Prairie State College (PSC) offers the training and certification needed to get hired. Affordable training with a near-guarantee of employment is available through PSC. In four or eight weeks, graduates are eligible to take the state-administered Class A road test.
Enrollment in the Truck Driver Training Program at PSC gives students the opportunity to learn the skills to become safe, professional truck drivers, enabling individuals to secure employment in an entry-level position in the trucking industry. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the trucking industry is projected to grow 11 percent by 2022, about as fast as the average of all occupations. Graduates of the program should expect to go to work immediately.
The program combines both classroom presentations and hands-on learning that leads to an Illinois Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) necessary for the over the road and trucking industry. Classes run year round, with three course options available. For more information, call (708) 709-7811, or visit prairiestate.edu and access the non-credit course schedule for specific class times and information.
