• Warm, wet conditions mean more mosquitoes than usual observed in south, southwest suburbs (chicagotribune.com) — Crestwood is among several south suburban communities recently sprayed for mosquitoes after this summer's unusually warm, wet weather created ideal breeding conditions. Local experts report elevated mosquito activity and some West Nile virus cases statewide, and the mosquito abatement district urges residents to use repellent, wear long sleeves, and remove standing water around homes and businesses.
