1 Crystal Lake Business Cited for Selling Tobacco Product to Minor
During a Feb. 15 compliance check, local authorities checked 30 businesses in Crystal Lake.

One business has been cited for selling tobacco to a minor following recent compliance checks conducted by the Crystal Lake Police Department.
Local authorities checked 30 businesses that hold valid licenses to sell tobacco products on Feb. 15. Circle K, 280 North Route 31 in Crystal Lake, allegedly sold a tobacco product to an underage minor, which is a violation of the police department's local ordinance, according to a news release.
Circle K received notice to appear at an adjudication hearing on March 10 at Crystal Lake City Hall.

The Illinois Liquor Commission is the lead agency in developing strategies that reduce illegal tobacco sales to minors. A state grant, provided by the Illinois Liquor Commission, funds the Crystal Lake Police Department’s tobacco compliance checks, according to the news release.
The police department will continue the campaign throughout 2017 in an effort to stop illegal tobacco and e-cigarette product sales to minors by the implementation and expansion of community-based programs, utilizing retail education, enforcement and public awareness.
