1 In Custody After Stabbing, House Fire Near McHenry: Police
A 25-year-old McHenry man faces an attempted murder charge for allegations he stabbed his girlfriend over the weekend.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — Authorities responding to a domestic battery in McHenry County Saturday night found a woman who'd been stabbed and a house on fire, authorities said.
Alexander Campos, 25, of McHenry, now faces an attempted first-degree murder charge in connection with the domestic incident as authorities continue to investigate the cause of the blaze.
The McHenry County Sheriff's Office and the Spring Grove Police Department were called to a home in the 500 block of Sunset Drive in unincorporated McHenry at 9:40 p.m. When deputies arrived, they found a 25-year-old woman who'd been beaten and stabbed, according to police.

Campos, her boyfriend, was located inside the home and was taken into custody, according to a news release from a sheriff's office. Authorities also discovered the home was on fire, and firefighters were called to the scene to put out the blaze.
The home was deemed uninhabitable and the Illinois State Fire Marshal was called in to investigate.

The woman was taken to an area hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
Campos is in custody and is expected to appear in court on Monday. Police say the incident is believed to be isolated and there is no threat to the public.
