1 Dead, 1 Airlifted After 2-Vehicle Crash

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 27-year-old Crystal Lake man is dead following a two-vehicle collision in Prairie Grove Saturday afternoon.

Tyler King was driving a 2002 Toyota Highlander west on Route 176 west of Bayview Beach Road at about 3:10 p.m. when his vehicle crossed the centerline and hit a 2001 Ford E350 Cargo truck head on, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

The cargo truck went off the road, rolled over and spilled its contents, authorities said.

King was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford, Eduardo Lopez-Peredo, of Wauconda, was airlifted to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
