1 Dead, 2 Critically Injured In McHenry County Crash
The collision happened on Route 23 near Marengo Wednesday evening, authorities said.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — Drugs are believed to be a contributing factor in a crash that killed a Marengo woman Wednesday evening and critically injured two others, authorities said Friday.
The crash happened at about 5 p.m. when a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro was heading north on Route 23 in unincorporated Marengo and collided with a 2012 Honda Civic that was headed west on Coral Road, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.
The driver of the Camaro, a 51-year-old Marengo woman, was taken by ambulance to Northwestern Hospital in Huntley and later flown to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge where she died.

The driver of the Honda, a 26-year-old Rockford woman, and her passenger, a 34-year-old Elgin man, were extricated from the vehicle and flown by helicopter to Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford with life-threatening injuries.
No one involved in the crash was wearing seatbelts and drugs are believed to be a contributing factor, according to authorities.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit.
