1 Flown To Hospital, 1 In Custody In Cary Stabbing

An argument between acquaintances turned violent Saturday night, authorities said. The stabbing occurred at a home on South Spring Street.

CARY, IL — A man stabbed by an acquaintance Saturday in Cary is recovering at a suburban hospital Monday, authorities said.

Brian M. McGrath, of the 200 block of Second Street in Crystal Lake, was arrested in connection with the incident and faces an aggravated battery with a deadly weapon charge, authorities said. Policy say McGrath stabbed an acquaintance in the abdomen and back after a verbal disagreement turned physical.

The stabbing occurred at a home on South Spring Street in Cary. Police were called to the residence in the 100 block of South Spring Street at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday and found a 37-year-old man with several stab wounds inside.

Authorities learned the stabbing occurred at a nearby home, and the injured man fled on foot to a nearby home, according to a news release.

The man was first taken to Northwestern Hospital in McHenry and then flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where he is listed in good condition.

Police took McGrath into custody, and he was transported to the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility in Woodstock to await a bond hearing.

This was an isolated incident, and there was no threat to the public, according to authorities.
