LAKE COUNTY, IL — One person was killed when their vehicle was hit by a Metra train near Grayslake Thursday afternoon.

Metra officials said the incident happened at around noon on the Milwaukee-District North line when the outbound Metra train collided with the car, according to the Lake County News-Sun. The identity of the person killed has not yet been released.

One person on the Metra train was also taken to the hospital after sustaining a minor knee injury caused by the train's sudden stop, according to the article.
