1 Killed in McHenry County Crash

A 61-year-old Lake Villa man was killed in the crash Wednesday morning.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL – A 61-year-old Lake Villa man was killed Wednesday morning in a crash near McCullom Lake, police said. Authorities were called to the single-vehicle crash in the 5400 block of Flanders Road in unincorporated McHenry at about 10:19 a.m. A preliminary investigation shows a 2004 Dodge Ram was heading east on Flanders Road traveled off the roadway to the north, came back onto the road before exiting the roadway again to the south.

The truck then struck a tree, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

The driver, a 61-year-old man from Lake Villa whose name has not been released, was the sole occupant inside the Dodge. He was taken to Centegra Medical Center in McHenry where he was pronounced dead.

He was wearing his seat belt and no airbags were deployed.

The crash remains under investigation.
