2 Killed in McHenry Co. Crash

A 31-year-old man and a 35-year-old man, both from Elgin, died following a two-vehicle crash west of Huntley Wednesday morning.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL - Two Elgin men were killed Wednesday morning when a car collided with a truck west of Huntley. The collision occurred when a 1999 Volkswagen Jetta lost control while heading north on Route 20 near Harmony Road in unincorporated Riley Township. The car traveled into the southbound lane where it hit a 2013 Ford F-550 Super Duty truck head on, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

The 31-year-old driver in the Jetta and a 35-year-old passenger -- who are both from Elgin -- were pronounced dead at the scene.

A 27-year-old Marengo man was driving the Ford. He and a 42-year-old passenger, a Capron man, were not injured in the crash, according to the news release.

The names of the Elgin men who were killed in the crash are being withheld while their families were notified. All occupants of both vehicles were wearing their seatbelts and airbags deployed in both

vehicles.

Toxicology results have been sent out for analysis.

An investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office, according to police.

Motorists were detoured for several hours while the crash was investigated.
