2 New Businesses Coming To Crystal Lake

Knife Experience and Mum Floral & Design will open soon in Crystal Lake.

Two new businesses are slated to open in Crystal Lake in the coming weeks, city officials said Thursday. A culinary and specialty knife store, Knife Experience, will open later this month. While Mum Floral & Design, which was previously located in downtown Crystal Lake before moving to Barrington, will soon reopen a shop in the downtown area.

Knife Experience will sell fine kitchen cutlery, Boy Scout pocket knives, collectible knives and outdoor tools. The store will open at 230 W. Virginia Street and is near Petco in the Country Corners Shopping Center by the end of this month, according to a news release.

Owner Richard Roberts will display knives from all over the world in the store. There will be culinary knives from Sweden, Switzerland and the United States, as well as collectible knives from South Africa, according to a news release.

"I am excited to be coming back to Crystal Lake. Crystal Lake's downtown is only getting better and I'm looking forward to being a part of the business community again," Lourie said. "There's an amazing mix of businesses, great events and the customers keep coming back for more quality service and selection."

The new store will also feature floral designs from Twisted Stem, a local floral design shop located on Route 176.
