3 Injured In Crash Near Crystal Lake

A car and two motorcycles were involved in the crash that happened on Route 31 at Crystal Lake Avenue Saturday morning.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL— A 36 year-old McHenry woman is in serious condition following a three-vehicle crash near Crystal Lake Saturday morning.

A 2011 Ford Fusion was headed north on Route 31 and slowing down in traffic when a 2005 Harley Davidson hit the back of the vehicle, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office. The driver of the motorcycle, a 38-year-old McHenry man, and a passenger, a 36-year-old McHenry woman, were ejected.

A 2003 Yamaha VStar, which was driving behind the Harley, attempted to avoid crashing "by laying the motorcycle down," authorities said. The driver of the Yamaha was ejected, and the motorcycle then ran over the woman while she was lying in the roadway.

The McHenry man and driver of the Yamaha, a 32-year-old man from Trevor, Wisconsin, were taken to Northwestern Hospital in McHenry and later released. The McHenry woman was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville via helicopter where she remains in serious condition, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

The driver of the Ford was treated and released at the scene.
