The Crystal Lake Fire Department battled the blaze Wednesday afternoon.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Three townhome units are uninhabitable following a fire Wednesday afternoon in Crystal Lake. The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department was called to the blaze in the 400 block of Windham Cove Drive at 1:11 p.m. and found one townhome unit on fire and two attached units "threatened by the fire," officials said. All three townhome units were evacuated, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department.

The local fire department requested mutual aid as well as additional fire crews to help deal with the blaze, which firefighters battled during a hot and humid day, according to fire officials.

The blaze was brought under control at 2:32 p.m. No one was injured in the blaze, but the three townhome units were deemed uninhabitable. The American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist residents who did not have other housing available.
