4 Businesses Cited for Selling Alcohol to Minors
The Crystal Lake Police Department conducted alcohol compliance checks in September and October.
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Four Crystal Lake business have been cited for serving alcohol to minors during recent compliance checks, authorities said Monday. The Crystal Lake Police Department went to 86 separate businesses licensed to sell alcoholic beverages in Crystal Lake, including businesses that sell packaged alcoholic beverages and those that serve such beverages for on-site consumption, in September and October, according to a police department news release.
Authorities sent a person under the age of 21 into the business who attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages, according to authorities. In most cases, the clerks did not sell to the minor.
But in four instances, employees at the following businesses did:

- 7-Eleven, 1024 S. McHenry Avenue
- Kyoto Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar, 5690 Northwest Highway
- Texas Roadhouse, 835 Cog Circle
- Reclaimed Grounds Coffee Bar, 82 Railroad Street
Crystal Lake officers cited the clerks and/or employees who completed the sale to a minor, police said.
An adjudication hearing on this matter is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 11 at the Crystal Lake Municipal Center, 100 W. Woodstock St.

The Crystal Lake Police Department strives to develop partnerships with local merchants to help them achieve the goal of zero alcohol sales to minors, authorities said. Traffic crashes are the leading cause of death among adolescents and teenage alcohol consumption is a leading contributing factor, according to the news release.
The Crystal Lake Police Department conducts alcohol compliance checks randomly throughout the year and we will continue to do so in the future, police said.
