The Crystal Lake Police Department conducted alcohol compliance checks at 79 businesses.

Five Crystal Lake businesses failed recent alcohol compliance checks, police said Thursday. The Crystal Lake Police Department conducted the checks at 79 businesses by sending a person who was under the age of 21 years old into the business where the minor attempted to purchase alcohol. Authorities said employees or clerks at the following five businesses completed the purchase of alcohol to the minor:

  • CVS Pharmacy, 177 W. Virginia Street
  • Chipotle Mexican Grill, 5006 Northwest Highway
  • Garfield’s Beveridge, 320 W. Virginia Street
  • The General Store, 1309 North Avenue
  • McHenry Athletic Complex (MAC), 1310 Ridgefield Road

Crystal Lake officers cited the clerks or employees who completed the sale to a minor. An Adjudication Hearing for those cited has been set for 8:30 a.m. on June 6 at the Crystal Lake Municipal Center, 100 West Woodstock Street.

The Crystal Lake Police Department conducts Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement checks randomly throughout the year and will continue to do so in the future, police said.
