$5M Lawsuit Filed In McHenry Co. DUI Crash
Complaint alleges intoxicated driver ran stop sign, causing a crash that critically injured a Woodstock man near Marengo.
MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A lawsuit has been filed after a serious crash near Marengo that allegedly occurred when a driver ran a stop sign while intoxicated, according to court records.
Bruce Scott, 71, of Huntley, is accused of driving while intoxicated when he ran a stop sign on North Union Road near Route 176 and slammed his 2024 Lexus LX600 into a 2021 GMC pickup truck driven by James Cierney, 58, of Woodstock, the Lake & McHenry County Scanner is reporting. Cierney was critically injured in the collision, which happened at about 8 a.m. on April 3, 2025, and flown to a hospital, according to the filing.
The lawsuit, filed in McHenry County Circuit Court, seeks damages in excess of $50,000 due to the “severe and permanent injuries” sustained during the crash, according to the article.
