72 Tickets Issued During Speed Awareness Campaign
The Lake in the Hills Police Department was out in full force between July 12 and 31 keeping an eye out for speeders.
LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — A driver was busted for traveling 38 mph over the speed limit and 72 more drivers received citations during a recent detail by the Lake in the Hills Police Department.
The speed awareness campaign ran from July 12 through July 31 with officers clocking nearly 38 additional patrol hours during the mobilization, according to a news release from the police department.
Police say one driver was arrested for aggravated fleeing and eluding, speeding more than 35 miles per hour over the speeding limit, disregarding a traffic control device, disobeying a lane control device, improper U-turn and failure to wear a seatbelt. In total, officers pulled over 76 vehicles.

Of those, 64 drivers were cited for speeding, four received seat belt citations, four were ticketed for not having insurance, and one was cited for improper lane use, according to the news release.
This mobilization was made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois
Department of Transportation.
