9 Arrested in Connection With Crystal Lake Stabbing
Nine now face charges following a fight and stabbing that occurred earlier this month.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL - Investigators have determined a planned robbery attempt where several teens used baseball bats as weapons ended with two being stabbed earlier this month. Crystal Lake police on Thursday said nine people have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident that occurred in Crystal Lake on April 3.
Police were first called to the 400 block of Virginia Street in Crystal Lake for a report of a stabbing that involved several people. At that time, two teens were taken to an area hospital for stab wounds that were not considered life-threatening.
Police launched an investigation into the stabbing and ran into roadblocks as several of the people involved in the incident did not cooperate, according to authorities.

Detectives eventually learned the stabbing occurred after several young males used baseball bats as weapons during a planned robbery attempt in the 400 block of Berkshire Drive in Crystal Lake, according to the news release. One of the victims of the robbery stabbed two of the suspects, Tyler Novak, 18, of Lake in the Hills, and Thomas Madura, 18, of Crystal Lake, with a knife during the attack.
On Wednesday, detectives obtained arrest warrants for six men and three juvenile males who were allegedly involved in the robbery, police said. All nine suspects have been arrested and face the following charges:

- Vehicular Invasion (Class 1 Felony)
- Aggravated Robbery (Class 1 Felony)
- Attempt Aggravated Robbery (Class 2 Felony)
- Mob Action (Class 4 Felony)
- Aggravated Battery/Deadly Weapon (Class 3 Felony)
- Aggravated Battery/Public Place x 2 (Class 3 Felony)
An $80,000 bond has been set for Novak and Madura. Novak has since been released from custody and Madura remains in jail. Other adults who have been charged include: Geoffrey M. Miller, 18 of Lake in the Hills; Dylan P. Macari, 18, of Huntley; Brandon D. Rosas, 18, of Crystal Lake; and David E. Manning, 18, of Crystal Lake. Bond has been set at $75,000 for Miller and Macari. Both have since been released from jail.
Bond was also set at $75,000 for Manning who currently remains in custody. Bond was set at $80,000 for Rosas. He remained in custody at the McHenry County Jail.
The three juveniles, who are all 16 years old, were taken to the Kane County Juvenile Center in St. Charles where they are awating a hearing in juvenile court.
All of the adult males are next expected in court on May 10.
