Farewell to Timbertown Playground
The playground will close on July 9. A new playground with up-to-date amenities will replace Timbertown playground.

It will be out with the old and in with the new when Cary Park District shuts down Timbertown playground at Kaper Park as construction begins on a more up-to-date play structure, complete with a zip line and splash pad. Local residents will get one last chance to play at Timbertown playground in Kaper Park in the coming weeks. The Cary Park District will be holding a "Thank You Timbertown" gathering over the final weekend before construction starts on the new playground.
From 4 to 6 p.m. on July 7, the public can come to stop out to the event at Kaper Park on Georgetown Drive in Cary.
During the event, guests can play on the wooden playground structure, which has been around for 24 years, and will receive a keepsake booklet. Each family may receive a commemorative Timbertown ornament by completing all the play activities throughout the event. An ice cream truck will be available to purchase refreshments or attendees can bring a picnic dinner and enjoy the afternoon around the park with your family.
