After Switching To Virtual Race, In-Person Santa Run Is Back

The 10th Annual Santa Run For Kids in downtown Crystal Lake will be held in person this year.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A popular holiday event in Crystal Lake had to move online last year amid a spike in COVID-19 cases.

But the McHenry County Santa Run For Kids is back and in person this year. The 5K run and 1-mile run/walk will be held on Sunday, Dec. 5. The race raises money for a handful of charities in McHenry County including Court Appointed Special Advocates of McHenry County, Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County, Girls on the Run, Turning Point, Kiwanis Club of Crystal Lake and Main Stay Therapeutic Farm.

All people who sign up for the race receive a complete Santa suit, which they can wear during the run. The race is set to start at 9 a.m. on Dec. 5.
