Apartments Uninhabitable After McHenry Blaze
The fire broke out early Tuesday at a complex on Shamrock Lane in McHenry.
MCHENRY, IL — Several residents living at an apartment complex in McHenry are without a home following a blaze early Sunday.
The McHenry Township Fire Protection District was called to the three-story apartment complex in the 4300 block of Shamrock Lane in McHenry just after midnight, according to a news release from the fire protection district. Fire crews first at the scene found heavy smoke coming from the third floor in the rear of the building.
Everyone was evacuated from the building, and one resident was treated and released at the scene. The blaze was brought under control with in 20 minutes, and no firefighters were injured.

The Red Cross was requested as several units were deemed uninhabitable. The cause of the fire is not yet known, and a damage estimate is also not available at this time.
The McHenry Township Fire Protection District received help from Nunda, Crystal Lake, Woodstock, Round Lake, Wauconda, Richmond, Fox Lake, Wonder Lake, Spring Grove, Cary and Lake Villa fire departments.
