CRYSTAL LAKE, IL -- Lakeside Legacy Arts Park is proud to announce the first annual ‘Art Fair at the Dole’ on the grounds of the historic Dole Mansion on the shores of the beautiful Crystal Lake. It will take place over the Labor Day weekend of 2015 on September 5th from 10am-5pm and September 6th from 10am-4pm. Artists from the greater Chicagoland and surrounding area will have booths along the front property, and admission to the fair is free. The fair features a wide range of art mediums including digital art, ceramics, fiber/leather, furniture, glass, jewelry, metal works, mixed media, painting, photography, wood, and sculpture. There will also be wine, chocolates, flowers, and more! Community members of all ages are welcome to attend this family-friendly celebration of the arts. Proceeds from the Art Fair will go to support the Lakeside Legacy Arts Park, which consists of an historic mansion and two stunning art galleries, as well as artists studios used by professional artists and to educate community members. Culinary arts classes are taught in our professional kitchen, and concerts are hosted in the new ‘Listening Room’ concert venue.

Lakeside’s mission is to preserve and protect the Dole Mansion and Lakeside Legacy property for community use in a natural and historic setting. The vision of Lakeside as a 501(c)3 charitable organization is to foster an innovative arts, education and community destination that enriches the quality of life for those the foundation serves. Lakeside’s objective is to have art make an impact on McHenry County and beyond by providing high-caliber arts experiences that promote creativity, bring people together, inspire success and impart positive values.

The Dole Mansion and Arts Park date back to 1865 and 1922 respectively, and the City of Crystal Lake celebrated 100 great years in 2014. Lakeside is located in Crystal Lake, a large northwestern suburb of Chicago, near the historic downtown Crystal Lake and the metra trains, close to neighboring Chicagoland communities and counties, and close to Southwestern Wisconsin, and is a two hour drive from Iowa. The Art Fair at the Dole is a mission-focused event that fulfills Lakeside’s vision and mission.
