Authorities ID 2 Killed in Crash Near Marengo

Authorities have identified the man and woman killed in a multi-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon at Millstream Road and Route 176 near Marengo.

Matthew J. Lange, 35, of Genoa was in a vehicle heading south on Millstream and turning onto Route 176 at the time of the crash at 3:10 p.m., according to the McHenry County Coroner's Office press release. Meanwhile, the driver of a second vehicle, which was traveling on Route 176, has been identified as Katie L. Kloess, 29, of Marengo. Both Kloess and Lange were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

A third vehicle, a semitrailer, was involved in the crash and that driver was not injured, the Northwest Herald reports.

An autopsy on Friday revealed Lange died of blunt force injuries to the head, spine and abdomen and Kloess died of blunt force trauma to the head.

The crash remains under investigation.
