Authorities ID McHenry Man Killed When Motorcycle Collides With Tree
Leonard W. Jensen III died from blunt force injuries to the chest in the one-vehicle crash in rural McHenry County on Sunday evening.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL - A 55-year-old McHenry man who was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday evening in rural McHenry County has been identified.
Leonard W. Jensen III died from blunt force injuries to the chest after his 2010 Harley Davidson collided with a tree on Ringwood Road at Meadowhill Lane in unincorporated McHenry Township at 6:46 p.m. on Sunday, according to authorities. He was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m. at Centegra Medical Center in McHenry.

It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash and the McHenry County Coroner's Office is awaiting toxicology results to make a final determination regarding the cause of death. The rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
An investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.

Also on Sunday evening, a Carpentersville man and woman were killed when their motorcycle collided with a minivan near McHenry.
The motorcycle deaths should "come as forewarning about the dangers of motorcycles" as the weather improves, McHenry County Coroner-Anne Majewski said in an e-mail. The high traffic volume in McHenry County, rural road and the likelihood of more motorcycles on the roads also contributes to the chances of more motorcycle accidents, she said.
