Bail Set At $350K For Man Accused Of Causing Crash During Argument
Domingo J. Rogel is accused of purposefully causing a crash to try and kill him and a 38-year-old woman he was in a relationship with.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — Bail has been set at $350,000 for a 68-year-old man accused of purposefully crashing his car into a tree after getting into an argument with a passenger last week.
Domingo J. Rogel, 68, of the 2600 block of Horeb Avenue in Zion, made an initial court appearance Tuesday morning on charges of aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery/great bodily harm and reckless conduct/great bodily harm.
Rogel was placed into custody after being released from the hospital and made his initial court appearance Tuesday. Rogel was taken to the hospital following the collision that authorities say happened at about 7:45 a.m. Wednesday on 29th Street at Lone Oak Road in Beach Park.

Prior to the crash, Rogel told a passenger in the Nissan Murano, a 38-year-old Zion woman who he was in a relationship with, he was going to end their lives and then, while traveling east on 29th Street at Lone Oak Road in Beach Park, accelerated his car, veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
Both the Rogel and passenger were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to police.

Police say Rogel and man were arguing with each other prior to the incident.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Rogel remained behind bars, according to online jail records.
