CRYSTAL LAKE, IL β€” The batting cages at Lippold Park have been vandalized and will likely will be closed for the rest of the summer, park district officials said.

Ian Booker, athletic supervisor at Lippold Park, said repairs are underway after the damage was discovered this past week.

"The door was kicked in, both token boxes were taken, the inside of the shed is destroyed, and the list goes on," he told Patch in an email response. "I’m sorry to say but most likely the batting cages will be closed for the remainder of the season and won’t re-open until the spring."
