Blaze Damages Crystal Lake Townhome

The blaze caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to a townhome in the 1200 block of Walnut Glen Drive, fire officials said.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — No one was injured in a fire at a townhome in Crystal Lake Saturday afternoon.

The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department was called to the blaze in the 1200 block of Walnut Glen Drive at about 4 p.m. after receiving a report that smoke was coming from the front of the two-story townhome. The occupants in the home were able to get out without any injuries.

The blaze was located in the basement of a townhome and fire crews were able to quickly extinguish it, according to fire officials. The townhome sustained an estimated $30,000 in damages from heat, smoke and water, and is currently uninhabitable.

Residents inside three nearby townhomes were also evacuated until firefighters were able to determine the blaze had not spread to those residences, according to the news release. All of those townhomes are habitable, authorities said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Crystal Lake Fire Rescue and Crystal Lake Police
investigators.
