Blowing snow is causing dangerous driving conditions in McHenry County Tuesday.

Motorists are urged to slow down and drive safely -- especially in open areas where road conditions are the worst, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

Breezy conditions are in the forecast Tuesday, with wind gusts as high as 30 mph possible, which is causing the snow to blow onto the roadways.

Patches of ice and snow were being reported on roadways across northern Illinois as of early Tuesday afternoon, according to the Illinois Division of Transportation’s Winter Weather Conditions map.
