Body Found In Fox River In Elgin, Cause Of Death Pending

ELGIN, IL — The body of an unidentified man was found partially submerged in the Fox River in Elgin early Friday morning, according to the Kane County Coroner’s Office.

The coroner was called at about 5:30 a.m. to the area of the 200 block of North Grove Avenue, where the man was found. The man’s body was taken to the Kane County Coroner’s Office, and his identity has not been released pending notification of his next of kin, according to a news release.

An autopsy was conducted Friday. The preliminary cause of death is pending the results of toxicology testing, according to the coroner’s office.

Samples were collected and will undergo additional testing at a forensic laboratory.

The Kane County Coroner’s Office is working with the Elgin Police Department to identify the man. The investigation remains ongoing.
