Cooler Temps Are in the Forecast This Week

A look at the weather forecast for the Chicago area this week.

CHICAGO, IL - Seasonably cooler temperatures are on the way.

A cold front will sweep across the region Sunday night and cooler and blustery conditions are expected Monday. Highs will reach between 66 and 70 degrees across the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service. Wind gusts between 30 and 35 mph are possible during the afternoon Monday.

Temperatures for the rest of the week will be in the upper-60s and lower-70s. Conditions should be drier and sunny skies are expected for much of the week, except for Wednesday when there is a chance for showers in the morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Here is detailed look at the forecast for the week:

  • Sunday night: Mostly cloudy. Showers likely and a chance of thunderstorms in the evening...then a chance of showers after midnight. Lows in the upper 50s. West winds 10 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.
  • Monday: Partly cloudy. Breezy. Highs in the mid 60s. West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
  • Monday Night: Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 40s in the suburbs...but in the lower 50s downtown. West winds 10 to 20 mph. Near the lake...gusts up to 35 mph in the evening.
  • Tuesday: Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 60s. West winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
  • Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 40s in the suburbs...but in the lower 50s downtown. West winds 10 to 15 mph.
  • Wednesday: Partly cloudy. A 20 percent chance of showers in the morning. Highs in the upper 60s.
  • Wednesday Night: Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 50s in the suburbs...but in the mid 50s downtown.
  • Thursday: Mostly sunny. Highs around 70.
  • Thursday Night Through Sunday: Partly cloudy. Lows in the mid 50s. Highs in the lower to mid 70s.
