As the summer comes to a close, it’s the ideal time to slow down, get quiet and welcome the coming of a new season. Join ANFT-certified forest therapy guide Cathy McCauley in marking the autumnal equinox on this two-hour guided forest walk. You’ll be guided in community to notice what is happening on the land and inside your heart through a series of slow and expansive invitations focusing on being present to sensory awareness. We will offer opportunities to share your experiences with the group.The slow walk will be about a mile and will conclude with a short celebration with snacks and tea to honor the land.  Dress for the weather and bugs; closed-toed shoes are suggested.

You can help collect native seed to help restore TLC’s 1,000 acres of local prairies and woodlands throughout McHenry County! Join the fun with this hands-on outdoor activity. We will collect seeds from native plants, and the seed collected will eventually be spread and sowed to help local wildlife and pollinators!&nbsp;
No experience necessary, we will help you learn the different plants we want to collect seed from.&nbsp;
Bring gloves and water (and paper bags &amp; hand snips if you have them!) Please wear closed-toe shoes with socks.
There will be seven organized events on Thursdays in September and October (weather permitting) – come to one, or come to all!

The annual Crystal Lake Service League Housewalk will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 9:00AM – 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM.We are hard at work getting things ready for our biggest fundraiser of the year. Like every year, we partner with homeowners of four amazing homes within the Crystal Lake community to allow our Housewalk attendees, YOU, to get a peek inside these truly beautiful homes and experience each of their unique styles and amenities.
On the day of the event, Service League members and volunteers are on hand to enhance each of our Housewalk tours. They’re sure to point out notable details, history, and personal stories unique to each home. This great event will feature something for everyone; from history buffs to those interested in architecture or interior design, or those who are just curious and might enjoy a day of touring beautiful homes in Crystal Lake.
The Service League of Crystal Lake’s Housewalk is open to the public and is our primary fundraiser for the year. Because of your generous support and donations which help raise nearly $30,000 each year for this event, we continue to realize our goals and mission – “To provide discreet, direct, short-term assistance to residents in our community who need immediate aid.”

Don’t be tardy for Teachers’ Lounge Comedy, a hilarious comedy show where professional stand-up comics turned teachers share their unique experiences, anecdotes, and frustrations about school life.
From navigating the quirks of unruly students to tackling overzealous parents, these teachers/comedians provide a light-hearted and relatable perspective on the joys and challenges of being an educator. It’s A+ comedy!
Bill Gorgo’s career in entertainment has been a regular buffet. While writing and performing stand-up, his first love, he has written 3 plays and a television series, acted in half a dozen stage productions, is an award-winning storyteller, has been active in talk radio, and taught dramatic arts to grades 6-12. Currently, he teaches standup classes and mentors several young comedians. And be sure to ask him about being part of creating a terrific cookbook, “Life Beyond Takeout.”
Jess Smith is thrilled to be performing for you tonight! She teaches Theatre and English at South Elgin High School where she also directs the fall play, assistant directs the musical, and coaches improv club. She has been teaching for over a decade. She performs with&nbsp;Greenroom&nbsp;Improv, the resident improv troupe at both the Hemmens Cultural Center and the Raue Center.&nbsp;
After studying improv for 4 years, Brian Williams has spent the last 5 years launching his stand-up career. He has performed all over Chicagoland including Zanies and Lucy’s Comedy Cafe.&nbsp;&nbsp;
