Car Drives Through Crowd At Crystal Lake Protest: Police

Protests happened on Friday and Saturday in downtown Crystal Lake.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — No one was injured when a driver made his way through the crowd at a Crystal Lake protest Sunday, authorities said. Officers with the Crystal Lake Police Department stopped him immediately, and he was identified and then released at the scene after authorities determined he would not be a threat, Crystal Lake Police Department Deputy Chief Thomas Kotlowski told Patch.

"Enforcement action will take place at later time," Kotlowski said. "We did not want to tie up resources at the time of the incident."

Protests in response to racial injustice and the death of George Floyd were held downtown Crystal Lake on Friday and Saturday.
