A look at the beginning of the girls basketball season and a quick look at boys basketball season.

The winter sports season got started this week with girls’ basketball, here’s a look at how the Trojans’ girls team did and a look ahead to the beginning of the boys’ basketball season…
Girls Basketball: began the season Friday night at Fremd in the Lake Zurich Tournament.
The Trojans held close the whole first half, trailing by just two at the break before falling 51-42. Olivia Jakubicek had 12 points to lead C-G while Joslyn Nicholson added 11.

On Saturday, Cary lost their second game in as many days with a 55-30 loss to Lake Zurich. Jakubicek once again led Cary with 14 points while Paige Lincicum scored nine.
The tournament continues Tuesday night as C-G takes on Lakes at 6 p.m. in Lake Zurich before concluding Wednesday night at 5 p.m. against Rolling Meadows.

Boys Basketball: The season begins Monday night with a whole new starting five as all five starters from last season’s team have graduated. The Hoops for Healing Tournament in Woodstock over this Thanksgiving week starts with a game against Belvidere at 5:30 p.m. at Woodstock North.
It will be interesting to see how C-G starts the season after having a strong finish to their summer schedule at the South Shootout where the Trojans lost in the consolation championship game.
The Thanksgiving tournament continues Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. along with Friday at noon and Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. with Saturday’s game at Woodstock North.
