Cary Home Is Part Of This Year's Illinois Solar Tour
More than 100 homes and business in Illinois that utilize solar energy will be included in this year's solar tour.
CARY, IL — More than 100 homes and businesses that utilize solar power across Illinois will be open to the public to visit Saturday as part of the 2022 Illinois Solar Tour.
Organized by the Illinois Solar Education Association, the tour will include in-person and video tours. Those attending in person will get to learn more about the renewable energy installations and to talk with the home or business owners regarding their experience living with renewable energy.
A Cary home is included on this year's tour tour. The residence, owned by James Chen, includes 36 roof-mounted panels that provide Chen with 100 percent of the electricity he needs in his home, Chen said in a video posted on the Solar Education Association's website.

There are several other area homes taking part in this year's tour, including a Barrington home on Miller Road that has 18 roof-mounted panels and 12 ground-mounted panels. The panels provide all electrical energy for a 2,600-square-foot house and two electric cars, according to the homeowner.

There are also homes from Deer Park, Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Grayslake and several North Shore towns included in this year's tour.
