
Cub Scout Troop 161 assisted the with their annual fundraisers Tootsie Pops in the spring and Candy Days in the fall.
The scouts, together with their scout leaders, collected funds at the to assist the hearing and visually impaired.
60 percent of the funds collected are shared with the Lions of Illinois Foundation.

LIF provides free services throughout the state such as the Mobile Hearing Units, Infant Hearing Screenings, Camp Lions (for visually and hearing impaired children), Low Vision Clinics, Diabetic Retinopathy Screenings as well as Hearing Aid and Eyeglass Banks.
The local clubs retain 40 percent of funds raised for meeting local vision and hearing needs.

In appreciation for the Increased funds raised by the cub scouts, the Cary Lions Club presented a check to Cub Scout Troop 161 for $150.
These “return on volunteering” funds will be used by the scouts to assist with expenses to attend their scouting regional events.
