Cary Police Take Part In Speed Enforcement Campaign
Cary Police Department officers will be out in full force on Wednesday keeping an eye out for speeders.
CARY, IL ā The Cary Police Department will be taking part in a speed awareness day enforcement campaign this week.
The speed awareness day will be held on Wednesday. The Cary Police Department will be among police agencies in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin taking part in the campaign in an effort to address speed and hazardous moving violations, which police saw a drastic increase in during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a news release from the police department.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration projections for 2021 show traffic deaths jumped by 10.5 percent, with 42,915 people dying in crashes. This is the highest number of fatalities since 2005, and the highest annual percentage increase in the recorded history of data in the Fatality Analysis Reporting System.
