At the Aug. 9 police committee meeting, Chief Steve Casstevens brought forth a speed study indicating that the 35 mph speed limit on Silver Lake Road did not support a change in speed limit due to the lack of car accidents.
However, to stay consistent with the rest of main roads in Cary, a 30 mph speed limit would be appropriate, Mayor Tom Kierna said.

Now, the area consist of homes, businesses and one of the largest parks in Cary, the speed limit reduction has been requested by Coilcraft, which is located on the corner of Silver Lake Road and Three Oaks Road.
"I did understand the reason for the study had to do with one of business owners in town, who was concerned about potential for accidents coming in and out of Coilcraft," Kaplan said.
Kierna said Coilcraft has been requesting a reduction in speed.
