Children's Health & Safety Fair Held Next Month

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL - Mark your calendar for July 26 for the Children’s Health & Safety Fair at McHenry County College, 8900 U.S. Highway 14, Crystal Lake. Kids will not only have fun and learn about health & safety, they’ll also receive school supplies, according to a news release. Low cost school physical appointments, dental exams, and vaccines will also be available.
Admission to the fair, which will be open open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., is free.
Over 40 fun, educational health and safety exhibitors are participating. Children will be given a participation card – after filling it with stamps at different booths, they can turn it in for a free school supply box and be entered in a raffle for winning a new bike and helmet, according to a news release.

School physical appointments for uninsured or underinsured can be made now by calling 1-779-220-9300. Dental exams are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. On the day of the fair, walk-in low cost vaccinations for eligible children will be offered at the McHenry County Department of Health Crystal Lake location (100 N Virginia Street).
Eligible children are those with no insurance, children whose insurance doesn’t cover vaccinations or Illinois All Kids & Medicaid insurance. For vaccinations, parents must provide their child’s updated shot record.

The Children’s Fair Coalition partners includes Community Action Agency/Head Start, Centegra Health System, Family Health Partnership Clinic, League of Women Voters of Illinois Education Fund, McHenry County College, McHenry County Department of Health, McHenry Community Health Center, McHenry County Mental Health Board, Mercy Health System, Northwest Herald/Shaw Media, Star 105.5, and McHenry County Probation office. The fair is also supported by organizations and volunteers who generously contribute time, services, and/or financial donations.
