CL Heritage Trolley Tour Hits the Road Sunday

The 15^th Annual Heritage Trolley Tour will take riders on a trip through Crystal Lake’s history on Sunday, June 10.

The city’s Historic Preservation Commission organizes the yearly trolley tour, which takes guests on a trip through time by visiting specific historic properties in Crystal Lake.

This year’s tour, Vintage Variety, will focus on the numerous historic homes in the city as well as highlight the history of the families, business owners and properties.

The tour rides are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and each ride is about 45 minutes, said Diana Kenney, member of the Historic Preservation Commission. Kenney also serves as president for the Crystal Lake Historical Society and executive director for Downtown Crystal Lake-Main Street.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased until Saturday, June 9, at Heisler’s Bootery, 50 N. Williams St., in downtown Crystal Lake. On Sunday, any remaining tickets will be sold at the downtown gazebo next to the Metra Station Parking lot.

 The trolley tours will start from the gazebo, Kenney said.

Revenue generated by the trolley tour is the single source of funding for the commission, the commission's website states. The money is used throughout the year for preservation activities and for funding the grant program.
