CLC Goes Bald for St. Baldrick's Foundation

Pep rally showcases St. Baldrick's event

l kids shaved their heads for a St. Baldrick's Foundation event during a pep rally Friday afternoon.

According to the St. Baldrick's website, "Each year, 160,000 children are diagnosed with cancer worldwide. Cancer is the number one disease killer of children in the U.S. and Canada. Research saves lives."

With 34 shavees, Crystal Lake Central has already raised over $6,000 for the St. Baldrick's Foundation. This is their online donations alone, with the T-shirt sales and additional donations, they estimate well over $7000. Their goal is an impressive $10,000.

" This is our first year participating and the students have really embraced the event. With a lot of motivation, it has been successful and for a great cause,"  said event organizer Keith Levin.

Top Participants were: Parent, Bill Wayne ($1,130) and teacher, John Sayles ($1,100), who both had their heads shaved.
