Cody's Farm Stand Returns to Crystal Lake
Cody's Farm Fresh Vegetables stand, from Marengo, sells corn and a variety of fruits and vegetables from the parking lot of the former McDonald's (with the train car).

Summer is the season for Midwesterners to enjoy freshly picked corn on the cob, zucchini and cantaloupe.
Right here in Crystal Lake, a small farm stand set in the empty parking lot next to , 140 S. Virginia St. (Route 14), offers an assortment of vegetables and fruit grown on Cody's Farm in Marengo.

"The corn was just picked this morning," said David Diedrick, who was working at Cody's stand on Monday.Â
Cody's Farm Fresh Vegetables stand is impecably clean, and even the bi-color corn appeared clean and fresh, not wet or dirty. The other bins contained plump eggplants, green zucchini - not too big and not too small - onions, beets, cabbage, broccoli and jalapeno peppers.

The stand also had a supply of tomatillos and kohlarbi, harder to find at local grocery stores.
In addition to Cody's farm stand on the owner's Marengo farm, there are also seasonal Cody stands selling produce in Marengo and Woodstock. This is the second year the market has come to Crystal Lake.Â
Cody's farm stand in Crystal Lake is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
