Coroner IDs Oakwood Hills Woman Killed In Crash With Fuel Tanker
The 84-year-old woman killed in the crash on Route 12 near Wauconda has been identified as Dorothy Lasota.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified an 84-year-old Oakwood Hills woman who was killed after her car collided with a fuel tanker near Wauconda as Dorothy Lasota, authorities said.
Preliminary results from an autopsy show Lasota died from blunt force injuries as a results of a crash, according to a news release from the coroner's office.
The collision happened at about 7:30 a.m. in the 31200 block of North Route 12, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office. Authorities say Lasota was driving a Chevrolet Cruze out of a parking lot on the east side of Route 12 and was heading west from the parking lot toward the southbound lanes of traffic while a semi-truck, driven by a 39-year-old McHenry man, was headed north, according to the news release.

Lasota's car abruptly made a U-turn in front of the semi-truck, police said. The truck drove into a grassy median to try and avoid a direct collision and the Cruze ran into the rear of the semi-truck.
Lasota sustained serious injuries and was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations unit and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team.
