Crowdfunding Campaign a Success for The Land Conservancy
McHenry County land trust raises $7500 in campaign for Wolf Oak Woods

The Land Conservancy of McHenry County (TLC) has concluded a crowdfunding campaign to raise money for Wolf Oak Woods, a 30-acre property in Woodstock, IL. TLC met its goal of raising $7,500 through the campaign in order to receive a three-for-one matching grant of $21,000 from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation, for a total of $28,000 for Wolf Oak Woods.
Funds raised will go toward the removal of invasive species, purchasing and planting native seed to attract pollinators, and purchasing a brush mower to maintain the property. Plans are also in the works to create a parking area, construct a trail system and install educational signs.
Wolf Oak Woods is home to the Wolf Oak tree, which is, at approximately 350 years old, one of McHenry County’s oldest natural landmarks. Wolf Oak Woods is also home to a wetland, savanna, sedge meadow and a bluff. Its highly visible location on Route 120 provides the opportunity to create an ambassador site for oak conservation, where people can learn more about the natural history of our region.
